American Spirit 2009

This month, September 2009, one of my political satire paintings made it into a juried show at the Cincinnati Art Galleries in downtown Cincinnati. The gallery is located at 225 East Sixth Street. The painting, done in acrylic on canvas board, is titled MOTHER & CHILD: LEVEL PLAYING FIELD OUT THE WINDOW and is shown in the above photo. The exhibit will run from Sep 12 to Sep 30. The other pieces in the show can be viewed on-line at www.cincyart.com.

What? No cricket pitch to go with the Union Jack?
Good luck with the show!

Congratulations on being selected. I really like this piece, it communicates on a lot of different levels.

Re the writing in my blog by the way, it's not that I'm worried about it, it's that I'm rusty. I'm not sure how long you've been reading but back in the old (pre-DSLR days) it was primarily a writing blog. Back then the words used to practically trip over themselves in their rush to the page, but once photography came in it pushed the words to the periphery, leaving them no room to return. (My muse tends to be a capricious little b*tch, she doesn't like sharing the spotlight - it's either all words or all images.) I'm trying now to find a new equilibrium that lets the images flow without stifling the words, and vice versa. How well it succeeds remains to be seen.
